Champions of Health Nominations

The Champions of Health awards recognize those who make a difference in the health of Oklahomans. Winners in select categories will receive $5,000 for their organization or program, and will be considered for the highest honor, the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award along with a $15,000 contribution. Winners will be announced at the 2017 Champions of Health Gala in September. To nominate, go to championsofhealth.org. The nomination period begins Wednesday, April 26, and all nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 26 and there is no cost to enter.

Lux? Music of Eternal Light

OKLAHOMA CITY--- Windsong Chamber Choir concludes its 2017-18 season with “Lux”, a concert celebrating Music of Eternal Light. The concert will be held at the Chapel at Crossings Community Church, 14600 North Portland Avenue, on Sunday, May 14th at 5:00pm. Tickets are required for this event and can be purchased through Eventbrite.com or at the door. Windsong will collaborate with 23 instrumentalists from the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in this presentation of exquisite choral music. The first half of the program will feature the Oklahoma premier of Howard Goodall’s “Eternal Light”. Windsong will begin the second half of the program with acappella works by Eric Whitacre, Thomas Tallis, and Ola Gjielo. The program will conclude with Morten Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna”. Artistic Director Jeanise Wynn Morton will conduct the ensemble. Windsong was formed in 1991 with the objective of achieving musical excellence in the style of a European choral chamber ensemble. The choir is comprised of 32 singers from throughout the state who bring a vast range of musical expertise to the organization. This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council. The Oklahoma Arts Council is the official state agency for the support and development of the arts. The agency’s mission is to lead in the advancement of Oklahoma’s thriving arts industry. The Oklahoma Arts Council provides approximately 500 grants to almost 250 organizations in communities statewide each year, organizes professional development opportunities for the state’s arts and cultural industry, and manages hundreds of works of art in the public spaces of the state Capitol.
